Among the giant jacks

I rest and gazed upon the skies then

many years ago

the sun could only play hide and seek

he felt defeated then

as the giant jacks reached the skies then

now I hide in the AC

gaze upon corners of walls

and plastic trees

caught among the concrete

as the sun scorches the earth

frantically outside

my imagination grows thin

the giant jacks will I ever see them again?

(in loving memory of giant jack trees who filled my lungs with fresh air, my stomach with their fresh fruit  when I was in my hometown)
